Here's how this Marathi film got its 'hatke' title
The minute the trailer of Krishika Lulla and Ravi Jadhav's Marathi film, '& Jara Hatke' hit the internet, social media was buzzing with comments on the 'hatke' name of the movie.
The film, featuring Indraneil Sengupta, Mrinal Kulkarni, Siddharth Menon and Shivani Rangole, has attracted a lot of attention owing to its content and name, but how exactly did the title come to be?
'The movie was initially titled 'Thipkanchyi Rangoli', a name that is easily relatable, but because the subject revolves around mature relationships connecting people, we decided to add '&' to it.
The story talks about today's generation, mature relationships, second marriages, divorces and parent-child relationships. It is a story that cuts across age groups, languages and masses. That's what makes it hatke and we decided to take this literally and called the movie '& Jara Hatke',' says Ravi.
For Krishika, this is her second Marathi production and it was a welcome change. 'It is a title that appeals to everyone and breaks across the language barrier which works for the film. It brings to light issues that many would shy away from talking about. So it was important for us to have a title that would highlight the predicament faced by our lead characters.'
'& Jara Hatke' is produced by Eros International and Ravi Jadhav Films, and directed by Prakash Kunte
