Students get another shot at FYJC admission with one more merit list
MUMBAI: Students from the city seeking admission to FYJC have one more chance. The state plans to announce another merit list besides three special admission rounds as more than 1.15 lakh seats are vacant and several complaints of students being unhappy about colleges allotted through the online system. The government has, however, shot down a demand to hold offline admissions.
According to the office of the deputy director of education, only 1,53,326 students of 2,22,622 secured admission. However, following complaints from parents and students that they have not been allotted a college of choice, the government has announced additional admission rounds which will go on till August 30. “All admissions will be done online,” said deputy director of education, B B Chavan.
The state will allow students to make changes like medium of instruction, stream, colleges and will hold three special rounds. “ Those who have secured admission and are satisfied with the college allotted need not do anything,” said Chavan.
Meanwhile, during the ongoing session of the legislature, the state on Thursday, refused a demand by BJP MLA Raj Purohit to keep 10% admission quota in junior colleges for legislators.
