Tension in Muzaffarnagar village after honour killing

July 21, 2016 11:52 pm | Updated 11:52 pm IST - Meerut:

Kawal village in Muzaffarnagar was tense on Thursday after a boy was killed in what appeared to be a case of honour killing. Heavy police force has been deployed in the village as the boy and the girl he was in love with belonged to different communities. It was in Kawal that the alleged harassment of a Jat girl and the subsequent death of three youths belonging to two communities triggered communal violence in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli in 2013.

According to Muzaffarnagar Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar, the boy was allegedly killed by the brothers of a girl belonging to the Saini community. The girl’s brothers had strangled him on July 18 and dumped his body inside their rice mill.
