Stoke have loan bid for Robin van Persie rejected by Fenerbahce - source

Stoke City have had a loan bid for Robin van Persie rejected by Fenerbahce, a source close to the player has told ESPN FC.

Van Persie, 32, has been closely linked with a return to the Premier League over the past couple of weeks with Middlesbrough expressing an interest.

Stoke were keen to land the experienced striker but the offer has been turned down and the former Manchester United and Arsenal star is expected to stay at the Turkish club next season.

The Netherlands international scored 16 times in the Super Lig last season helping the Yellow Canaries finish as runners-up to book a place in this season's Champions League.
