Nashik: After the three burglaries and four house thefts that rattled the residents on Monday, burglars struck once again on Tuesday, and this time, decamped with valuables worth Rs 2 lakh in two house break-ins.
Both the burglaries are registered with the Ambad police. There has evidently been a spurt in robberies and break-ins, keeping the police on their toes.
The police said that the detection branch teams were working hard to identify the culprits.
In the first case reported in Cidco, complainant Ravikiran Bhagwan Kulkarni (60) said that his gold jewellery worth Rs 1.72 lakh and cash worth Rs 10,000 were allegedly stolen on the intervening night of July 18 and 19.
The officials said that 90 grams gold was reportedly stolen from the cupboard safe of the victim's house.
In the second burglary that took place in broad day light, the police said that jewellery worth Rs 25,000 was allegedly stolen from the residence of victim Madhukar Pandharinath Khandagle (42) from Untwadi.
"Khandagle had gone out of his house around 11am and on returning around 2.30pm, he noticed the latch of the main door broken. The valuables were stolen from the cupboard drawer," a police official said.
Shrikant Dhivare, deputy commissioner of police (zone II), said the detection branch teams were working on cracking the cases and identifying if the same culprits were involved in both the cases as well as the previous break-ins reported on July 18.
"The police have succeeded in detecting one case where items worth Rs 6.15 lakh were allegedly stolen. We have been able to recover of the stolen valuables as well," he added.
