Indore : Five persons were killed and over 12 people were injured in four separate accidents in the city and surrounding areas.
In the first accident which took place late on Monday near Bhangarh of Dewas, a couple died while ten others were seriously injured after their car rammed into a truck.
Over 30 members of Chouhan family, residents of Alapura in Juni Indore sustained severe injuries when they were on their way to Devli village to attend a family function.
The pick-up vehicle in which they were traveling was hit by a truck coming from the rear end.
The impact of the accident was such that the family members were thrown out and suffered severe head injuries. Prakash Chouhan and his wife Madhu died on the spot whereas other family members were rushed to the hospital.
The police were informed about the incident and a case under relevant sections was registered against the accused. The driver of the truck, however, managed to flee the spot. "A case has been registered and the vehicle has been confiscated. Further investigations are underway," said Dewas police.
The second accident was reported in Ghata Billod area when a Rajasthan-based trader was killed on Monday night. Ali Hussain, a trader, who was on his way to Indore, was killed after the bus in which he was travelling overturned on the Bypass. A case was registered and the body was handed over to the family members after post mortem examination, said police. Meanwhile, one person died while the other was injured after the duo was hit by a heavy vehicle on Bypass on Monday night.
According to Kshipra police, Arjun Singh, resident of Rustam Ka Bagicha and his friend Gokul, resident of Narwal was on their way back to Indore after repairing a vehicle in Dewas area when they were hit by a heavy vehicle.
Arjun died on the spot whereas Gokul was rushed to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment. His condition was stated to be critical by the hospital authorities. In yet another accident in the city, a 13-year-old boy died while his mother was seriously injured after their two-wheeler was rammed into a petrol tanker near Kakashree petrol pump in Arobindo area.
