Ditch the highways, noise of citylife and embrace the countryside of Germany

The town Schonau am Konigssee is the largest tourist region in the valley and around Berchtesgaden and extends from 600 m to 2,713 m above sea level. Much of it is located in the picturesque Berchtesgaden National Park. Located in South-eastern community in Germany, Schonau am Konigssee is bounded on the west by the valley of Ramsau and the north open to the settlement area of the market Berchtesgaden.

In the east and south, a stone boundary wall build equal to the mighty mountain ranges of the high Göll, Hagengebirge and Steinernes Meer form the common border with neighbouring Salzburg.

Schonau am Konigssee has great opportunities for fly fishing. The waters from the Koenigssee in the Berchtesgaden National Park are among the cleanest in Germany.

If you are not inclined to explore on foot, you may enjoy the spectacular views and crisp mountain air on the terrace. There is also a restaurant (the highest above sea-level in Germany) which can brew some delicious coffee as you soak in the beautiful sights.

St. Bartholomew’s Church is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church in the Berchtesgadener Land district of Bavaria in Germany. It is named after Saint Bartholomew the Apostle (Bartholomäus in German), patron of alpine farmers and dairymen. The church is located at the western shore of the Königssee lake, on the Hirschau peninsula. It can only be reached by ship or after a long hike across the surrounding mountains.
