As part of the ongoing ‘Telanganaku Haritha Haram’ programme, the district administration conducted rangoli competitions on the theme of planting of saplings to give a fillip to the mass afforestation programme here on Wednesday.

The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) organized the competitions for women at the TNGOs function hall.

The participants painted the floor with colourful rangolis highlighting the importance of planting saplings for the preservation of greenery, reducing pollution and maintaining ecological balance.

Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Etala Rajender, Joint Collector Sri Devasena, DRDA Project Director Arunasri and other officials visited the venue and appreciated the participants for their creativity of educating the people through rangolis.

Earlier, the Minister along with MLA G. Kamalakar, Collector Neetu Prasad and others participated in the planting of saplings at NGOs Colony. The NGOs decided to protect the saplings with tree-guards. They also hosted a feast as part of Vanabhojanam programme on the occasion.
