Eight jailed for stealing copper wire

Adilabad First Additional Sessions Judge Sunitha Kunchala on Tuesday sentenced 8 persons to imprisonment for 2 to 3 months for stealing copper wires in 2014.

The offences were committed in some police station limits in Nirmal and Adilabad Revenue Divisions.

According to Additional Public Prosecutor M. Ramana Reddy, the accused had committed 35 offences within the limits of 8 police stations.

They had stolen 6 quintals of copper wire from electric transformers all worth about Rs. 6 lakh which was recovered y the police.

The thefts had caused a lot of problem to farmers in that year. Those who were convicted were Akarapur Shiva Shankar, Md. Avez Khan, Deep Singh, Aslam Khan, Saleem Khan, Mujahid Khan, Irfan and Feroz Khan.
