Filmmaking, at times, runs in the genes. Creativity cannot be taken out of families. This holds true in Sandalwood, which has seen some father-children combinations, with both generations taking to filmmaking. The latest examples being Girish Kasaravalli's two children 'Apurva and Ananya.
The Kasaravallis
Among Girish Kasaravalli's children Apurva has directed a new-age relationship drama, Niruttara, while Ananya has to adapt the short story Harikatha Prasanga into Beladi Harishchandra.
Girish is a National Award-winning filmmaker whose accolades spread across the globe.
The Lankeshs
Two of late journalist-filmmaker P Lankesh's three children have also taken to filmmaking. Lankesh was known to make cinema that was a critique of society, yet scored high on entertainment. His son, Indrajit, has made many commercial entertainers including Huduga Hudugi, Thuntata and Aishwarya. Lankesh's daughter, Kavitha, debuted as director with the film Deveeri, which was an adaptation of her father's work.
The Shrikanths

Child prodigy SS Kishan made his debut with the Guiness World Record creating C/O Footpath. Interestingly, his father, who has always encouraged Kishan's creative talent, directed Kishan in the teen romance caper Teenage ' Ee Vayasse Onthara.
The Seetharams
Arguably one of the most noted names in Kannada TV, TN Seetharam has made acclaimed films like Mathadana and Meera Madhava Raghava. His son, Sathyajith, recently made his debut with the film Hingyake.
Also watch out for
Veteran filmmaker TS Nagabharana's son Pannaga, who has already made his mark as a stage and film actor, and has been preparing for his filmmaking debut. He has been a part of his father's productions for a while. Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar's daughters Sihi and Kanasu were part of the technical team of his latest outing, Ishtakamya, in different department.
Director SV Rajendra Singh Babu's daughter, actress Rohini Singh (formerly known by her screen name Risheeka) made her directorial debut of sorts recently when she directed a video about being eco-friendly.
