Santos, C'Spring Masters defeat NY teams

Santos Masters League team defeated Unsung Ones 4-1, while Constant Spring Masters clipped Lions United of New York 1-0 last Sunday at Winchester Park, St George's College, in the first set of matches of the 2016 Goodwill Tour.

In the opening match, Olympian Jermaine Gonzales gave Unsung Ones (The Unsung Ones is a foundation, which is made up of mostly former National players who have set out to help former National players and their families who have fallen on hard times) the lead in the 10th minute when he slipped between defenders Trevor Campbell and Joseph Henry, and beat goalkeeper Wayne Shaw to his right. It was 1-1 in the 14th minute as Tyrone Davis latched on to a pass from Clint Reid and beat the advancing goalkeeper Clive 'Spiderman' Wedderburn, and kicked into an empty goal. John McKoy made it 2-1 in the 26th minute as the half ended 2-1.

Clint Reid scored the third goal in the 50th minute, and Nyron Prawl round off the scoring in the 60th minute for Santos.

Constant Spring Masters clipped Lions of New York 1-0 in the feature match with Oniel 'Chippy' McDonald scoring the lone goal in the 26th minute.

Richard 'Charlie Chaplin' Bennett of Border Patrol Security made a presentation of $100,000 to the Unsung Ones Foundation at half-time.

The Unsung Ones also made a presentation to the family of the late Peter Cargill which was received by his daughter Danique Cargill.
