On Tuesday, July 19, at 6:29 p.m., Officer Scott Tracey, Sgt. Matthew Lucas and Officer Anthony Marcella were dispatched to 74 North St. in Hingham Square for a report of a head-on collision involving an MBTA bus and a pickup truck.Wicked Local reports that the officers found the four occupants of the truck and a the driver of the MBTA bus injured. There were no passengers on the bus at the time. Several witnesses said the pickup truck, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, had been traveling on North Street from Route 3A and crossed over the center line directly into the path of the full size 2008 MBTA bus.Officers learned that the driver had been arguing with a rear-seat passenger and had turned around to look at him when the crash occurred. One of the truck's injured passengers refused medical treatment and rode away on a bicycle. The truck’s driver and the two other passengers and the bus driver were transported to South Shore Hospital by Hingham and Cohasset fire department ambulances. All suffered non-life threatening injuries.The occupants of the truck were not wearing seat belts. The bus driver was seat belted. The truck and bus were towed from the scene.MBTA Police responded to the crash to assist.The truck driver, an 18-year-old Pembroke man, was cited at the hospital by Hingham Police on four charges: 1) Operating to Endanger 2) Marked Lanes Violation 3) Impeded/Unsafe Operation 4) Seat Belt Violation. He will appear at Hingham District Court on the charges at a future date. Alcohol, drugs or speed were not factors in the crash. Distracted driving and inattention by the truck driver were factors, police said.Police closed North Street at Station Street and at Main Street until 7:30 p.m.Get the WCVB News App
