Woman employee killed after being stuck in spinning mill machine

A woman employee was killed when she was caught up in the machine at the Cannanore Spinning and Weaving Mills, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Textiles, near Kakkad in Kannur town on Tuesday night.

Kannur: A woman employee was killed when she was caught up in the machine at the Cannanore Spinning and Weaving Mills, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Textiles, near Kakkad in Kannur town on Tuesday night.
According to police, the victim, identified as Ramya, died after she was caught up in the floor room machine while she was on night duty, around 9.30 p m.
Her left hand was severed in the mishap and she also suffered serious injuries on the left part of her body. It was with great difficulty that she was pulled out of the machine, which was stopped immediately.
Though Ramya was rushed to the nearby hospital and from there to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital, she breathed her last around 12.30 in the midnight.
Kannur Town police have registered a case and investigation is on.
