Vasco: The workers of Western India Shipyard Limited (WISL) continued their hunger strike on Tuesday at the Headland Sada junction for non-payment of their salaries for seven months.
President of Congress in Goa, Luizinho Faleiro, visited the workers on Tuesday evening. He informed them that, if by Sunday, their problem did not get resolved, they could take out a morcha on Monday to the assembly at Porvorim as the monsoon session would start.

From Wednesday, the 350 odd workers will hold hunger strike at Panaji. Faleiro added that, “the issue is not a major one for the government. If they want they can easily sort it out. The government is purposely turning a blind eye to the matter.”
Surprisingly two councilors, Sarika Palkar and Bhavana Bhosle, who are supporters of local MLA and power minister Milind Naik, were also seen supporting the workers who were against Naik for not helping. Also seen were Shraddha Amonkar, Murari Bandekar and Sandesh Mesta, councilors of Mormugao municipal council.
