The Kancheepuram franchise of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) on Tuesday unveiled the team name and logo at a grand event in the city.

The team was bought by Ruby Builders for Rs 3.69 crores in the auction held last month and has been named Ruby Kanchi Warriors.

The team had earlier roped in former Tamil Nadu Ranji captain S. Suresh as its coach with former Kerala player Sreekumar Nair assisting him.

The team logo was unveiled by the chief guest, Justice M. Jaichandren of the Madras High Court. Former Tamil Nadu player and coach Bharat Kumar will be the Chief Operating Officer and will take care of the cricketing matters. Bharat Kumar said: “With this tournament I am really happy to give back to the game, especially in the districts.”

Speaking about the vision for his side, team owner Ashok Manor said: “In our country cricket is more than just a game. Our vision is to be at the head of this movement that will change the face of regional cricket in Tamil Nadu.”
