OBC federation convention on August 7
Nagpur: The Vidarbha unit of the recently formed National Other Backward Castes Federation will hold a daylong convention in city on August 7. Leaders of the OBC community across the political spectrum have been invited for it.
With community stalwarts like Chhagan Bhujbal and more recently BJP’s Eknath Khadse in the dock facing allegations of corruption, the OBCs are looking for fresh impetus to their movement.
Convention’s convener Babarao Taywade senior leaders like YV Wadaskar, Union minister of state for home Hansraj Ahir, Nagpur guardian minister Chandrashekar Bawankule, Congress leaders Vijay Wadettiwar, Sunil Kedar, MPs Ramdas Tadas, Nana Patole, Rajeev Satav, Ravi Rana are expected to attend various sessions.
On the occasion veterans of OBC movement like Sudhakar Gangane, Nagesh Chaudhary, MM Deshmukh, Babanrao Fund will be felicitated, said federation spokesman Khemendra Katre. After the inaugural by Justice (retd) BG Kolse-Patil, the convention to be held at Panjabrao Deshmukh hall, Congress Nagar, will be split in three sessions taking up issues like creamy layer and students scholarships, future of youth, women and social change and other burning issues of the community. Newly appointed fisheries minister Mahadev Jankar, MLA Jitendra Awhad and corporator Parinay Fuke will also be present, said Katre.
