Chandigarh, July 19
The cleaning and digging of the Saraswati river are in full swing in Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts. This is so because the Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board has set July 30 as the deadline to complete the work.
Prashant Bhardwaj, Deputy Chairman of the board, informed this at a meeting here today. The meeting discussed several aspects of rejuvenation of the river. It was informed at the meeting that the board’s focus was to preserve and promote several archaeo-cultural facets of the Saraswati heritage area and to bring water in the erstwhile river.
The water in Saraswati from Uncha Chandana through Dadupar feeder would be discharged on July 30. Also, all arrangements have been made to dig up six borewells by the ONGC in Yamunanagar and two borewells by the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun, at Adibadri and Mugalwali villages. — TNS
