It was a rocking evening at Jamsteady on Friday as Surjo, band Experience and Nikhita Gandhi put up a stellar gig to treat the music lovers of the city.
First up on stage was Surjo who rendered his original numbers like Immunity to humanity, Blank page and also a Bengali song, Mullick barir meye. This was followed by a performance by band Experience, who wowed the audience with their entertaining set.
As the night grew younger, revellers turned up in hordes to witness Nikhita’s gig. She kickstarted her performance with a medley of Michael Jackson songs, followed by songs such as Madari, Jugni, Duma dum mast kalandar and Coffee and you.
A high point of the evening was when city-based band, Underground Authority’s lead singer, EPR Iyer, took to the stage and rendered a Rajasthani folk song fused with Kattey, the rap version. “Jamsteady has always been that avant-garde initiative that has worked wonders for the music scene of Kolkata. The crowd was engaging and it collaborating with Nikhita and her band was an amazing experience,” said the singer. Indrarup Bhattacharya, a reveller, said, “Nikhita’s choice of songs was bold and she executed them well. The ambience at Jamsteady is always amazing and it’s a perfect place to hang out with your friends.”
