The Department of Water Resources (DWR) is procuring cloud-based e-discovery services through a recently released Request for Quote (RFQ).

The need for electronic discovery has increased in the day-to-day management of the State Water Project, and "DWR has a responsibility to maintain accurate records, respond to Public Record Act requests, prepare Administrative Records, and preserve and safeguard historical documents concerning SWP operations."

RFQ submissions are due May 29 and the contract is scheduled to be executed a month later.

"The bidder will provide a cloud-based environment in which Relativity, or other similar software program, will be used by DWR attorneys and support staff to process electronic documents. The Bidder shall provide a secure Internet website as a 24/7/365 point of access to their software and client database(s) by which a minimum of 10 or more users shall be able to process, review or otherwise manipulate and analyze the date. The Bidder shall also provide continuing software support and shall be licensed agent for the software manufacturer. Software upgrades, software issue resolution and patches shall be provided."

Earlier this month, DWR released an RFI to conduct research into software-as-a-service and off-the-shelf platforms that could be used by the State Water Project. Those RFI responses are due today, July 19.

More information about these bids can be found on the state's procurement website, Cal eProcure. The information contained in this publication, gathered from official government sources, is intended only as notification of contracting and bid opportunities. Information is current as of July 19.
