DDA, NBCC challaned for waterlogging at 2 places
Both the AIIMS flyover and Sarita Vihar underpass were under several feet of water, resulting in massive traffic jams for at least two days.
New Delhi: NBCC (India) Ltd and the Delhi Development Authority have beenchallaned for allegedly causing waterlogging on the AIIMS flyover and at the SaritaVihar underpass respectively in the past few days. The action by the sub-divisional magistrates came a day after deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia asked agencies concerned to take to task any organisation, which was responsible for waterlogging in the city.
Both the AIIMS flyover and Sarita Vihar underpass were under several feet of water, resulting in massive traffic jams for at least two days.

SDM of Sarita Vihar Joginder Singh issued a notice to DDA, which said: “It was found that you have caused an obstruction to drainage system at the Sarita Viharunderpass, causing huge waterlogging, which resulted in blockage of traffic movement causing hardship to general public…”
The notice to NBCC was on similar lines. “You have caused an obstruction to drainage system in and around the vicinity of Kidwai Nagar East/main road, causing waterlogging,” said Neeraj Aggarwal, SDM of Defence Colony. A copy of the notice has also been sent to the South Delhi Municipal Corporation and PWD.
Both agencies have been asked to take “immediate action to remove the nuisance and submit a report, along with photos in 24 hours”.
PWD officials said that in the process of the Kidwai Nagar redevelopment, which NBCC had undertaken, it blocked a major drain that would have carried rainwater to the Kushak drain.
