Srinagar, July 19

Jagmohan Singh Raina, president of the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee, called on Governor NN Vohra here today. Raina sought urgent intervention to defuse the prevailing tense situation in the Valley.

He urged the Governor to ensure the deployment of magistrates and other senior officers on the ground to oversee law and order and resolve problems faced by the people, particularly regarding availability of essential commodities at correct prices.

Assuring attention to the issues raised, the Governor urged Raina to continue playing a positive role for the resolution of all problems being faced by the people.

Khwaja Farooq Renzushah, chairman of the Kashmir Society, had a separate meeting with the Governor.

Putting forth various suggestions for restoration of peace and normalcy in Kashmir, Renzushah appealed to the Governor to intervene and initiate a reconciliation process by involving all segments which played key roles in Kashmir.

He urged the launching of an effective campaign to fill the gap between the political dispensation and the people at large.

The Governor appreciated the suggestions of Renzushah and urged him to mobilise members of his organisation to set up peace brigades to work among the people for bringing harmony among all sections of society.
