Yerevan/Mediamax/. Former Armenian FM, MP and “Consolidation” Party Leader Vardan Oskanyan urged Armenian President, Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister to speak with the people.

“It’s the third day since our country has found itself in an unprecedented situation. There is an armed confrontation, great danger of bloodshed  and great potential for tragic developments.

Our citizens are expressing their concern on streets and squares. Law enforcement officers often resort to undue pressures, which in its turn contributes to the tension. The atmosphere in the country is getting heated hour by hour. Armenia has the international media’s attention in a negative way.

Having said that, it’s the third day since Armenian President, Speaker and Prime Minister have been silent. There is no country in the world, the leadership of which gets estranged from the people at the moment of extreme tension and has nothing to say. It is essential to be able to take the responsibility and speak publicly during tense situations.

I urge the leadership to express their point of view, regardless of how hard it is to formulate thoughts. President, Speaker, Prime Minister, address a message, talk to the people and offer some ways out. Otherwise, your silence is inexplicable both inside and outside of the country”, Vardan Oskanyan’s statement reads.
