Ahmedabad: Vastrapur police probing a scam involving the Rudraksh Charitable Trust have issued lookout notices for the accused in the case to prevent them from leaving the country. The move will also ensure that they are identified while travelling by air even within the country.
On June 22, Devang Patel, a resident of Anand Hari Tower, Bodakdev, registered a complaint against Bharat Dave, a resident of the same apartment complex, and his family members, accusing them of Rs 65.5 lakh fraud.
Dave had collected the money saying that he ran the Rudraksh Charitable Trust, also known as Rudraksh Pratisthan.
Dave had collected the money stating that his was a registered trust with the state charity commissioner and that he could provide senior citizens, widows and separated women grants from the government along with bank interest of 2% per month.
"Since the registration of the case, the number of victims has risen to 49 and the total amount lost is Rs 3.97 crore," said a Vastrapur police official.
"We have already reached out to different districts apart from Ahmedabad to ascertain the scope of the scam. A number of bank accounts accessed by Dave and his family members are also being scrutinized. As the family is still at large, we have issued lookout notices." The official said he hopeful of catching the accused soon.
