Vadodara: A day after sacking Samarjitsinh Gaekwad as its president, the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) is planning to approach the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for ratifying the decision taken during the AGM.
The association had, in an unprecedented move, removed president, Samarjitsinh Gaekwad from his post amid chaos in the meet.
The members present in the AGM also agreed, according to the managing committee, to appoint vice-president, Dr Jitendra Patel as the new BCA president.
When asked whether the resolutions passed by the AGM conducted by Patel will be accepted by the BCCI, BCA (in-charge) secretary, Snehal Parikh said, "We will be sending details of the AGM along with the resolutions passed to the BCCI soon. We will check with the cricket board whether they will accept proceedings of the AGM and also seek their support."
The management will also examine legal standing of the AGM proceedings soon.
Gaekwad, however, had maintained that he is still the BCA president and there are possibilities that he may take the legal route in the coming days.
BCA members feel that the new impasse between Gaekwad and the Revival Group will further delay the stadium project. If the BCCI accepts the AGM proceedings then it will release Rs 30 crore to the BCA towards subsidy and the management said that the money will help them in putting the cricket stadium on the fast track

"I hope that whatever happened in the AGM doesn't affect the Kotambi cricket stadium project. If we get the money from BCCI, our stadium project will materialize sooner. We are also pushing for the MoU with Reliance Stadium to bring IPL and one-day international matches to the city as early as possible," Parikh added.
The Royal Group camp, however, maintained silence over the AGM proceedings on Monday and Gaekwad too wasn't available for comments.
