The new academic year at the Markaz Shareeath College, an institute for studies and research on Islamic theology and jurisprudence, will commence on Wednesday. Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musaliyar akka Sheikh Aboobacker Ahmed, the Chancellor of the Markaz University, will inaugurate the new academic year by leading a session on Sahih al-Bukhari, the most authentic collection of reports of the Prophetic tradition. The Markaz Shareeath College has more than 10,000 students in five departments, says a press release here. Hundreds of students from many north Indian states join Jamia Markaz every year. The programmes in three departments of the Jamia Markaz are affiliated to the Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
