Members of the Uttarakhand Rajya Nirman Sainani Sangh have expressed resentment over the casual attitude of the state government towards “corrupt” officials.
The activists have sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Harish Rawat and demanded a strict action against officials and bureaucrats involved in any type of corruption.
They showed satisfaction on the recent work of the Vigilance Department on the issue. However, they asked to catch the real culprits involved in the alleged corrupt deals. They also demanded to appoint a Lokayukta in the state at the earliest.
Earlier during the day, the statehood activists gathered at the Shaheed Sthal and took out a protest march towards the District Magistrate’s office. The protesters presented a copy of memorandum to the departmental office.
Manoj Dhyani, president of the organization, said, “Both BJP and Congress never took steps to counter corruption in the state. Due to this, bureaucrats and government officials are taking part in corrupt activities without any fear. Now, it has become important to appoint a Lokayukta in the state so that corrupt officers can get punishment on time.”
Neeraj Gaur, Ravindra Pradhan, Prabhat Dandriyal, Govind Singh Rawat and Sohan Singh were present during the protest.
