Even more news out of the Star Wars Celebration convention in London: David S. Goyer announced at a panel that he is writing the script for a virtual reality Star Wars experience—and that it will center around Darth Vader. The Verge reports that the project will tell an original story in the Star Wars universe and that it will be considered part of the canon. Intriguingly, the experience, which will include day-night cycles and changing weather patterns, will continue to progress even when the participant is away from his or her VR headset.

Goyer, one of the screenwriters behind both Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel, called Darth Vader “the perfect ambassador to usher us into the Star Wars VR universe.” And rightly so: Vader has been present in one form or another in every Star Wars movie to date, with director Gareth Edwards confirming over the weekend that the baddie will definitely feature in the upcoming Rogue One.

ILMxLAB, the team behind the new interactive Vader project, announced at the panel that they will also be releasing their immersive VR experiment Trials on Tatooine, which allows players to wield their own lightsaber, for free today for owners of the HTC Vive headset.
