Jaguar F-Pace To Be Launched With Petrol Engine
British carmaker Jaguar looks all set to launch its first ever SUV in India later this year during the Dusshera-Diwali festive period.
When it finally does enter India, the new F-Pace will be launched with a 2.0-litre petrol engine as Jaguar looks to avoid Delhi's diesel ban. The F-Pace petrol is expected to be priced at around Rs 80-85 lakh ex-showroom.
The 2.0-litre petrol engine will produce 237bhp and 340Nm of torque and is the same one that is present under the hood of the XE sedan already on sale in India.
The other petrol variant along with the diesel variants of the SUV are expected to enter India in 2017.
However, one thing not in favour of the new F-Pace is the high price, which is due to the fact that the SUV will be sold in India as a Completely Built Unit ie: it won't be assembled in the country.
This means that the F-Pace will be competing with larger and more powerful SUVs like the BMW X3 and the Mercedes GLE when it does set its wheels down on Indian tarmac. However, neither are offered with entry level petrol engines. Currently, the only SUV in around the same price bracket is the 2.0-litre variant of the Porsche Macan.
