Published 18 July 2016

A Ferrari 550 Maranello once owned by Football legend Geoff Hurst is heading to auction. The Italian future classic will be offered for sale at the Silverstone Classic auction on Saturday, 30 July.

Sir Geoff Hurst MBE, famously led the England team to a world cup 4-2 victory against Germany, scoring a hat-trick in the 1966 final at Wembley Stadium on 30 July.

With just 36,600 miles from new, the UK-supplied X-registered car has been well looked after and stored in a correctly heated and dehumidified facility by the vendor for the past two years. It carries a pre-sale estimate of £120,000 to £150,000.

Finished in Argento Nurburgring with black leather Daytona style seats, it boast full carbon interior trim, leather headlining and silver-painted brake calipers.

Nick Whale, Silverstone Auctions managing director, said, ‘Front-engined V12 Ferrari Grand Tourers have always been the stuff of legend since the days of the original 365 GTB/4 Daytona back in the early 1970s.

‘With only 457 right-hand drive 550 Maranellos made, the car is highly collectible. Not only that, it’s a superb drivers’ car, with a fantastic history.’

With the football star’s name appearing on the V5C as the immediate previous owner, the car will be sold with two sets of keys, Ferrari leather-bound book pack, a fitted red Ferrari cover, a new MoT and full service history from both Ferrari main agents and Ferrari specialists.
