Drunk man slits woman passenger's throat at Dadar station

A 23-year-old woman was attacked by a drunk man at Dadar station in Mumbai on Sunday night.

A resident of Sion, the woman was waiting at the platform when 27-year-old Farid Shaikh waved a knife from a moving train and slit her throat.

Passengers who saw the entire incident handed Shaikh over to the police. Meanwhile the woman was admitted at a nearby hospital.

Shaikh was in Arthur Road jail for past one year in a weapons case. He was released a day back. We have seized the weapon from him and investigating from where he bought it,??said senior inspector Nitin Bhobde.

Dadar Railway police has registered a case of attempt to murder against Shaikh.

Shaikh said that he was not in his senses when he attacked the woman. He has a history of drug addiction. He told us that he was under the influence of alchol. We have asked for details of the case registered against him and are investigating about the motive,?? added Bhobde.

The victim has now been discharged from the hospital.
