Hassan Zilla Panchayat president Shwetha Devaraj has said that she will convene a meeting of Hassan ZP to discuss the constitution of standing committees soon after the State Legislature session is over. The process was delayed as the MLAs of the district were busy with the Legislature session, she told presspersons here on Monday.
Recently, Janata Dal (Secular) members had alleged that the ZP president was obstructing development works in the district by not constituting the standing committees. Ms. Devaraj, reacting to the allegations, said that in the previous council, the standing committees were constituted three months after the president was elected. “We are not delaying it for any political reasons. The issue has to be discussed in the presence of all MLAs of the district. At present our MLAs are busy in the Legislature session”, she said.
Further, she maintained that she had been responding to the problems of the district. During her last visit to Bengaluru, she met senior officers regarding vacancies in the Health and Rural Development and Panchayat Departments in the district and appealed to them to fill up the posts at the earliest.
