A Saudi national made headlines after he reportedly offered to buy the mobile phone through which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a facetime call appealing to his supporters to take to street and the foil the military attempt of coup.
The man announced on his Twitter account that he contacted the Turkish TV presenter and offered to buy the phone for $266,962, or 1 million Saudi Riyals.
He claimed that the TV presenter turned down his offer saying that she would rather showcase her mobile in the museum, reported Arabic daily Akhbar24.
Twitter users applauded the role of the presenter for posting Erdogan’s address in time which helped thwart the coup.
