Wanted criminal shot dead in Jamtara

Dumka: A wanted criminal was shot dead by unidentified miscreants on Saturday night in Jamtara. The deceased, identified by police as Furkan Ansari of Tumadaha village under Narayanpur police station, had several cases lodged against him in Jamtara. Ansari was returning home at around 9.30 pm when he was intercepted by assailants near his native village and shot.
Jamtara SP Manok Kumar said police had proposed to declare a rupees one lakh award for Ansari, who was recently granted bail from jail. "The incident may be the outcome of a gang rivalry," Kumar said, adding raids are being conducted to track the assailants.
