The officials allegedly thrashed the children and hurled expletives at the suspected thieves. But on searching the children, all the police found was some money and no mobile phones.

Betul: In a case of police brutality, three minors were handcuffed, stripped and beaten up by officers on suspicion of stealing cell phones in Madhya Pradesh's Betul district.

The officials allegedly thrashed the children and hurled expletives at the suspected thieves. But on searching the children, all the police found was some money and no mobile phones.

Police has denied charges of any wrongdoing.

Condemning the police action, a human rights activist said, "Children and juvenile offenders need special care. Government must sensitise police personnel in dealing with children/minors. Police continues to deal with minors in a brutal manner."
