Kandurata Umbrella Industries sponsors SSC Cricket

SSC Cricket Chairman Samantha Dodanwela, SSC Cricket Captain Dhammika Prasad, Senior Sales Manager Lakshman Nanayakkara, Marketing DGM Riza Thahir and Finance Manager M.M. Rizlan from Kandurata Umbrella Ind. Ltd.

Kandurata Umbrella Industries will be the clothing sponsors for SSC Cricket for the fifth consecutive year. 

SSC is one of Sri Lanka’s leading cricket clubs, with an illustrious history spanning more than 117 years. The club has been headed for decades by distinguished personalities such as Sir Henry Dias, Sri Solomon Obeysekara, Sir James Peiris, D.S. Senanayake, Sir John Kothalawala, J.R. Jayawardena, Ryle De Soyza, Daya Perera and Tommy Ellawala – the present President. 

SSC is known for producing quality cricketers who have gone on to represent the country. It has produced five national captains, including Arjuna Ranatunga, who led Sri Lanka to World Cup victory in 1996.

SSC became the only local club to win four championships conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in one calendar year. This partnership between SSC and Kandurata Umbrella has enabled SSC to help the club’s budding cricketers reach new heights.

Kandurata Umbrella Industries markets and manufactures penguin-branded products consisting of high quality umbrellas, mosquito nets and raincoats for all ages and both genders to the utmost satisfaction of the customer. 

KUI has also diversified its business by introducing a range of socks, including the most recent collection, ‘Bamboo Socks’, which includes all biodegradable features. KUI recently launched a new colourful umbrella ‘Araliya’. All these products are also exported to countries such as Canada, the UK, Maldives and India.

KUI has also been very active in sports, with its team participating in the Mercantile Rugby Tournament from 2014. The team emerged bowl champions in 2015 and have also been runners-up in the shield category and won the plate championship at the Under 21 level.
