Woman hangs self to death, kin allege dowry

Lucknow: Two people committed suicide in different parts of the city on Sunday.
In the incident reported from Krishnanagar police station, a woman committed suicide allegedly after she failed to bear torture for dowry in Krishnanagar area. Mona of Maal locality was married to Deepak of Hans Kheda locality of Para. At 5.30pm, she was found hanging. Her husband rushed her to Lok Bandhu Hospital, however, she was declared brought dead.
Later, the hospital authorities sent a memo to the Krishnanagar police informing about the death. Police reached the hospital and later contacted the family before sending the body for post-mortem and further investigation was on. On the other hand, victim's parents apprehended foul play and alleged that Mona was being harassed for dowry since marriage.
Krishnanagar station officer Vijay Yadav said an investigation into these allegations was on and a case would be registered if charges leveled were found true. In another incident reported from Thakurganj, a youth identified as Manish Rawat (25) ended his life . According to police, Manish lived with his family in Ektanagar locality and worked at a shop. At 9.30pm on Saturday, he had dinner with his brother Kaushal Kishor and left for his room. At 7.30am, when he did not wake up, his sister-in-law Kiran went to the room and found him hanging from the ceiling.
