Hyderabad: Entrepreneurs from a T-Hub-based startup alleged that they lost about Rs 16 lakh and their credibility as the HMDA let them down.
Team leader Pridvi Tej and CPI state executive member, D. Sudhakar said the startup “The Next Big Thing” had planned a multi-cuisine food festival at Peoples’ Plaza. The HMDA suggested July 14 to 17 as the ideal date, given a Ramzam mela was being held there. The mela organisers were to hand over the venue to the HMDA on July 10.
They said there was no response from HMDA or the mela organisers even on Friday. “Most of the participants had prepared food outside and brought it to People’s Plaza. Our programme failed and the participants had to throw away the food,” he said.
“The sponsors may lodge a complaint against us. We demand that the government provide justice. We need compensation from HMDA along with an apology,” Mr Pridvi Tej said.
HMDA Administrative Officer, B. Kumara Swamy said the delay was caused by the previous lessee, one Rafiq Beg. “For utilising the shed built by the previous lessee, the T-Hub team had negotiated with him. The negotiations and delay in removing structures led to the delay in handing over the land.
