Case filed in Budhia's missing case

He made Guinness record in 2006 by running 65 kilometers.

BHUBANESWAR: Acting on the complaint of Khurda District Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the Odisha police on Sunday registered a kidnapping case in connection with the missing of wonder boy Budhia Singh.

According to sources, the Nayapalli police registered a case under Sec 363 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the instructions of the quasi-judicial body. As per the particular section of the law, whoever kidnaps any person or from lawful guardianship, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.

On Saturday, the CWC had issued a notice to a producer of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures which is producing the sports biopic ‘Budhia Singh -Born to Run’ slated to hit the big screen on August 5.

“We have sent notice to a producer of the movie asking him to reply within three days whether Budhia Singh is with him or not. If yes, then on what basis he has taken him to Mumbai with whose permission,” CWC member, Benudhar Senapati said.

The 15-year-old Budhia, who entered Guinness Book of World Records in 2006 by running the 65km between Bhubaneswar and Puri, has not reported to the sports hostel after the summer vacation raising many questions over his disappearance.

Meanwhile, Budhia Singh was on Sunday spotted at Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu even as police have registered a case of abduction on his “disappearance”. Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Y.B. Khurania said the mother and son would return to the state capital after visiting Mumbai.
