"Anna tum sangharsh karo, hum tumhare saath hain," "Main bhi Anna, tu bhi Anna, ab toh saara desh hai Anna," "Anna tum aage badho, desh tumhare saath hai" – Ramlila Maidan once again saw a group of people shouting Anna slogans with the tricolour in their hands. The sound made a few people rush to the ground, but they discovered that this wasn’t the beginning of a movement, but the shoot of director Shashank Udapurkar’s biopic on Anna Hazare.
The film is based on Anna’s childhood, his Army days, return to Ralegan Siddhi where he began his fight against corruption, and the indefinite hunger strike at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi in 2011. While a major part of the film, which has Udapurkar playing Anna and Tanishaa Mukerji playing a journalist, has already been shot, the crew was in Delhi recently to complete the last leg of the film’s shooting.

Anna inspired me to start an NGO which focuses on the environment: Tanishaa
Tanishaa, who is returning to films after featuring in TV reality shows like 'Bigg Boss' and 'Khatron Ke Khiladi', says that she learnt a lot about Anna and the anti-corruption campaign he led while working on the film. The actress, who also met Anna recently, told us, "Anna believed in himself and believed in the people. What I really appreciate about him is his simplicity and the fact that he is willing to take things on – he isn’t someone who will just sit and say things and make someone else do it. Earlier, I was following the Anna movement very superficially, like most people, via the media. I saw how the crowd flocked to him and was surprised that this man, who is so old, can inspire so many generations, especially the youth. I don’t know what the immediate effects of his anti-corruption movement were in Delhi, but I know what the country went through. After Anna’s hunger strike in Delhi, a lot of things happened in Mumbai as well. There were a lot of protest marches and students came out on the streets. They all felt that if Anna was protesting against injustice, then even they could do it. Personally, Anna inspired me to start an NGO of my own, which focuses on conserving the environment. The biggest lesson he taught everyone is that if you want some change, you should stand up for it. It’s time everyone takes responsibility for their own actions. I think every citizen now has to find Anna within himself/herself."

There’s still some time before doing TV shows again
The actress also told us that she is looking forward to doing more films now. "I want to try different things, but acting is something I will always do. Right now, I’m not doing any TV shows as I want to explore different things. I did 'Bigg Boss' and just finished a reality show – 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'. I think I can take some time off from TV," said Tanishaa.
