New Delhi: The Delhi University Teachers’ Association has written to DU vice-chancellor, Yogesh Tyagi, and the director, South Campus, in protest against the Ram Lal Anand college governing body’s decision to continue the
suspension of G N
Saibaba.
Saibaba had been suspended after being arrested for alleged links with Naxalites. On receiving bail from jail, he returned to Delhi and the college had instituted a one-member committee to decide on his suspension.
It recommended its continuance. The
DUTA letter argued that continuing his suspension is in “violation” of DU’s Ordinance XX-C, which ‘safeguards the rights of the academic staff of this university-maintained college.’
The DUTA also alleged that the decision to have a one-man inquiry committee “was never accorded statutory approval by the university”. The letter said that the governing body of RLA college also doesn’t have majority of mandated members in place.
