Traffic on several roads have been affected due to heavy rain in landslides in Uttarakhand today even as several people have lost their lives in the current spell of heavy rain in the state.
Haridwar-Delhi highway was closed due to heavy rain and the traffic was diverted while the railway track was blocked due to debris on the track in Haridwar.
Earlier in the day, ANI reported that Badrinath-Joshimath highway, Ghansali-Pratapnagar road (Tehri Garhwal) and National Highway 507 (Naugaon,Uttarkhashi) were affected due to landslides under heavy rain.
The state government issued an alert as the river Ganga rose close to the danger mark in Haridwar due to heavy rain.
There was also an increase in the water level of the river in Pindar.
Yesterday, two people were killed in village Nandgaon village near Badkot in Uttarkashi district when a tree fell on their house due to heavy rains.
In another incident, three people were killed and two injured when a car skidded off the road last night amid heavy rains and fell into a 200 mt deep gorge near Srinagar in Pauri district.
According to the MeT department, the weather may improve from Monday in the state.
