Rajshekhargowda Patil Vajjal, Saraswati Subhashchandra and Bhimabai Mallikarjun Pujari were elected chairpersons of various standing committees of Yadgir Zilla Panchayat here on Saturday.
Mr. Vajjal from Devatkal constituency and Ms. Saraswathi from Kandakur constituency would head the standing committees for agriculture and industry and health and education, respectively. They were elected unopposed.
Ms. Pujari, representing Hayyal (B) constituency, defeated and Arun Kantilal, a BJP member from Rajankollur constituency, to become the chairperson of the standing committee for social justice.
Ms. Pujari secured four votes and Ms. Aruna three votes.
The results were declared by chief executive officer Vikas Suralkar.
