Students who have command over their subject need not have any apprehensions over job security in multinational companies, said S. Kritivasan, Senior Consultant of Virtusa Global IT company, here on Saturday.

In his inaugural address at the Student HR Summit of the Godavari Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET), Mr. Kritivasan said students should also be confident along with the knowledge of their chosen field.

He added that non-computer science graduates were also getting good opportunities in multinational companies and even were drawing more than computer science graduates. “Companies like us want those students who are having command over their subjects in which they have studied and analytical knowledge and also we will see your confidence levels,” Mr. Kritivasan said. He advised students not to take failures to their heart but make them as stepping stones for victory. Only an inquisitive nature would help them achieve major goals in life, he said.

Virtusa Polaris Global HR Operation Head Anirudh Das said the field of information technology offered a lot of opportunities in employment. He said a talented graduate would definitely get good opportunity in the fast changing IT sector. He told students that there was a difference between the requirements of the MNCs and other companies and engineering graduates coming out from colleges like GIET should know the difference and prepare accordingly.

Satyam Ventures Engineering Services (SATVEN) Vice-President and H.R. Global Head A.M. Rao in his address said value based knowledge was important in the MNCs and youth needs planning and vision to reach their goal. He said the summit would be helpful to the students and all the engineering colleges should follow suit.

Managing director of GIET K. Sasi Kiran Varma said this was the 16th summit the college conducted and they were the leaders in doing so in the State. After conducting the first HR Summit in GIET, they conducted the same in Kakinada and Visakhapatnam GIET and CIET Colleges also with the support of their chairman KVV Chaitanya Raju, he added.

Principal of the college D.V. Rammurthy, Kapileswara Mishra, Vice-President S. Ramana and others participated.
