Shabina Sattar set herself on fire following a reprimand by her parents at her house in
Adivasi Prakash Nagar in Kalamna on Thursday.
Shabina had lent Rs 3,000 to a friend. Since the family is not financially sound, Shabina’s parents did not approve of this and scolded her. Later, the parents found her depressed and even tried to explain their position to her.
However, Shabina torched herself when her family members were asleep in the other room. No suicide note was found.
In another case, 32-year-old Kushal Tripathi, mother of an 8-year-old boy, hanged herself over unspecified reasons at her house at Minimata Nagar in Kalamna. No suicide note was found. There was no marital discord, family members said.
Stray animal leads to accident Forty-two-year-old Ratna Sonkar died in an accident involving a stray buffalo near
Dongargaon under the jurisdiction of
Hingna police station on Friday. Car owner Praveen Sevekar, a native of Wardha, was returning to his house along with Sonkar and two other relatives. Mithun Yedekar, 29, was driving it. Suddenly. a buffalo came in the way. In a bid to save the animal’s life, Yedekar swerved the car and lost control over it. The vehicle jumped the road median, dashed with an oncoming truck and overturned. While Sevekar and the others received minor injuries, Sonkar died sustained serious head injuries. She died while undergoing treatment.

Shailesh Shende died after an unidentified vehicle hit him while he was going on his motorcycle near Seminary hills on Friday.
