ALLAHABAD: A two-day workshop on Inclusive Technical Education In National Context: Challenges & Solution was organized at the department of applied mechanics and civil engineering of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), on Saturday. The workshop deliberated in finding solution for modern day challenges in the technical education in the country.
The chief guest G K Khare, former chairman of Railway Board, government of India congratulated the director MNNIT, Prof SK Duggal for organising the workshop.
He insisted that in order to provide quality technical education involvement of general opinion of the people is must as it would ensure social and intellectual development of the society. The guest of honor Atul Kothari, the general secretary, Shiksha Uthan Nyas elaborated on the use of Hindi as the mode of providing technical education in the country.
The guest from Ohio State University, USA, Prof Gunjan Agarwal provided insights to the problems in providing technical education in the country. The program coordinator Dr Ravi Prakash from department of mechanical engineering insisted that proper technical education curriculum is necessary for the development of any country. He said that this equally true for both developed and developing nations.
Program coordinator L K Mishra said that technical education in our country is multi-dimensional. Apart from various Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and National Institute of Technologies (NITs), private engineering institutions are working in the direction of delivering quality technical education to the students at graduate level. Essentially, the quality of technical education imparted by various institutes differs a lot which is the area of major concern and has to be look upon.
