Jamaica Tallawahs registered their third win of CPL 2016 against an in-form Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Kingston on Friday. Chris Gayle and Shakib Al Hasan were instrumental in this victory over the confident Warriors.

Tallawahs re-claimed the second spot in the CPL 2016 points table and now they have seven points from five matches. Warriors still remain at the top of the points table with 10 points.

Chris Gayle had won the toss and asked the Warriors to bat first on a wicket that was going to be on the slower side.

Warriors lost their skipper Martin Guptill in the second over and he did not disturb the scorers at all. Dale Steyn was spot on and Guptill was out LBW.

Chris Lynn (33, 18b, 5x4, 1x6) and Jason Mohammad (46 n.o, 51b, 1x4, 2x6) yet again were impressive with the bat on Friday. No other Warriors batsmen other than these two could withstand the pressure exerted by the Tallawahs bowlers.

Imad Wasim was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up two crucial wickets and was extremely economic (4-0-12-2). Steyn also added two scalps to his name.

At the end, the Warriors crawled to a meagre total of 128 for the loss of six wickets at the end of their allotted overs.

However, the Tallawahs were off to a horrendous start as they lost four wickets for just two runs. Chadwick Walton, Andy McCarthy, Kumar Sangakkara and Rovman Powell were all back in the dug out.

It was then Gayle and Andre Russell took control of things. But Russell (24, 15b, 2x4, 2x6) did not last long at the wicket and Tallawahs were 45 for the loss of five wickets at the end of five overs.

Shakib Al Hasan joined Gayle in the middle and both these batsmen orchestrated the run chase beautifully. Hasan also scored a half-century (54 n.o, 47b, 7x4). Gayle (45 n.o, 29b, 2x4, 4x6) and Hasan remained unbeaten till the end and made sure that their side goes over the line with 25 balls to spare and five wickets in hand.
