Around 250 people, mostly from MDMK and DMDK, have joined DMK in the presence of DMK treasurer M. K. Stalin, here on Friday night.
Welcoming the newly inducted members, Mr. Stalin said people were joining DMK, even when the party is not in power, only because that they had realised that the future of Tamil Nadu is with DMK. “Only DMK can save Tamil Nadu in long run”.
He pointed out that DMK was not a party formed with the sole aim of forming a government. “It has been formed to fulfil the aspirations of people,” he said.
Earlier, Mr. Stalin visited the family of G. Saravanan, a postgraduate student at All India Institute of Medical Sciences who was found dead in his flat in New Delhi a few days go.
He told the family that only a CBI inquiry could bring out the truth and extended all his support to get to the truth behind the mysterious death of Saravanan.
