Gupta demands relief for kin

July 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - New Delhi:

Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta called on Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung on Friday to demand a compensation of Rs. 50 lakh for the family of seven-year-old Anas who fell into an open drain located in the Civil Lines area on May 9.

The family neither received compensation nor sympathy from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal or any member of his government, the LoP said. “The L-G assured the parents of Anas that he would take action against the PWD officials responsible for leaving the drain open,” Mr. Gupta said.

The BJP leader said no minister or official of the Delhi government had visited the scene on the day of the incident. “The family had also tried to meet the CM but to no avail,” Mr. Gupta said.
