He addressed state office-bearers and district presidents of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee Scheduled Caste (SC) Department. Sukhu said Himachal being a state with sizeable employee population, reservation in promotion was a critical issue amongst SC employees.
“I will soon meet Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and urge him to take steps to address this issue as implementation of the 85th Constitutional Amendment is required without any further delay,” he said. He said the SC Department of the HPCC was an integral part of the party organisation in the state and the Congress had made several policies and programmes for the welfare of SCs.
He said another issue of importance for the SC’s in the state was enormous backlog in government services and he would ask the state government to launch a special employment drive to fill up those posts in various government departments.
