Dengue larvae found in eight coolers of government offices ; fined

Fatehgarh Sahib, July 15 (UNI) A team of health department today found dengue larvae in eight coolers of government offices. It may be mentioned here that to deal with the spread of dengue, the health department had announced to conduct checks on every Friday to check stagnant water collected in containers at houses and public places.
Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Surgeon Dr Harinder Kaur had issued instructions in this regard. As per the instructions, the office employees have been requested to make sure that they clean coolers, pots and other utensils at their places, which have stagnant water and make for a breeding ground for dengue larvae. It was also clarified that in case dengue larvae is found growing in any house, the household will be fined Rs 500, in case the same is found to be happening at an office complex. Health department officials today conducted surprise checking of government offices to see if the instructions are being followed or not. According to press release issued by the department , district level team today conducted checking of 32 coolers of government offices and found dengue larvae in eight coolers and each was fined Rs 500. As per the release all department were issued challan of Rs 4,000 on spot. Later a meeting was held with Executive Officer of MC, Bassi Pathana.
The Health Department has appealed the people to make sure that water does not stagnate anywhere in their surroundings and also to clean coolers and other items which stock water for a long duration.UNI XC JS1931
